Genuine Tool Offer! What is a proxy server?

hyperlinks imageRecently when discussing internet marketing methods with some friends I just remarked in an absentminded kind of a way. “Write some material for a post and link a relevant passage of text to whatever web site URL you want the reader to click through to”.

Easy I thought but then back came the response “how do I make a link”?

OK the initiated amongst you already know that right? But we all had to start somewhere and what seems obvious to you now, at one time wasn´t and someone had to teach you.
So for the uninitiated here is a simple way of
A. making a link with some text and then
B. from an image file.

I hope it will be helpful to you and what I do is just copy the sample coding into a text document and use it by substituting your own details until it becomes second nature.

Text Linking.

A. Example: Mary had a little lamb it’s fleece was white as snow.

Say I wanted to make the word fleece into a link so that a reader could recognise it as a link and click on it to be sent on to another site or page to get more info on fleeces.

Do this in a text editor using the HTML (hyper text mark-up language) coding editor NOT the visual editor so look for a button or a tab saying HTML (I still get that wrong sometimes and then spend ages trying to figure why my link doesn’t work). Type this just as an example: Mary had a little lamb it’s <a href=”http://fakefleecedomain.com/fleeceinfo.html”>fleece</a> was white as snow.

Please enter (between the quotes) a domain address that does exist and not my fake one that doesn’t exist – I hope! You could put http://theinfochief.com just to test it.

If you do not have a server to upload to you can try this by typing into a plain text editor like notepad and save as test.html to your desktop. Close it and then you should see that file in the logo of your default browser. Open it with the browser by clicking on it and click the link to see that it works or reopen it with right click > open with notepad and check the html again till it works. You will get this message “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria” as I do not have a post called fleeceinfo.html but the link works OK? Maybe I should make a post that just says Ta Da!!!!

To find the exact url destination address that you want to display get that page up on your browser and copy the url address from the web browser window like this one http://www.google.com/analytics/ that I use as the home page for my Firefox browser. Put it inside quotes and past it into the coding like I have shown above.

Another example would be: I use the Google <a href=”http://www.google.com/analytics/”>analytics</a> page as the home page for my Firefox browser.

B. Example of an image linking.

Here you need to substitute the text between the brackets >text</a> with the source location coding of the image that you want to use.

For example: I use this <a href=”http://www.google.com/analytics/”><img src=”http://theinfochief.com/images/analyticsscreenshot.jpg” alt=”analytics screenshot image” height=”80″ width=”128″; /></a>Google analytics page as the home page for my Firefox Browser .

Or as it should appear online: I use this Google analytics page as the home page for my Firefox Browser .
