Error creating AVI file
Are you having a problem with Camstudio screen recorder software?
Do you see this error message: “Error creating AVI file CamStudio”
You may have Googled for an answer before and you found the direction to go to: http://camstudio.org/fixreg.reg to download a “registry entry” file.
You can also watch this in video form it’s at the bottom and sorry about the video quality but I think it’s good enough to help you follow my text description.
You downloaded the file Registry Entries to your computer and nothing changed? That’s what I did!
The method is correct, you download the file and click add it to your computer! BUT – what isn’t explained in the instructions that I received, is that in order to effect the registry entries, you have to click on the Registry File Icon (I added mine in the CamStudio Program folder) and then another screen appears (image below)

Do you want to add to the registry? Click YES. Otherwise NOTHING will happen!!
It might be obvious to the initiated but it wasn’t to me and so maybe this will help you too!!
p.s. Perhaps you may need to re-click the icon again if you subsequently make some setup changes that affect CamStudio!

Admin says- Yes I tried the “CAMTASIA without the 300 Dollar price tag” as per the last commenter. For me the IM version convertion to flash video makes my old laptop scream “vitual memory” warnings and the “divert” to url option (valuable for product sellers) causes more warning messages that I think would freak out most everyday viewers. I would love to find Camtasia for free but it needs to be easy, stable and safe and that why I continue to experiment with the free camstudio standard version and not the IM version. It could be useful for some but the flash convertion caused me problems and I do not want my readers to have problems.
