This site  is dedicated to my two beautiful dogs Bobby and Ubee who were both unwanted by their previous owners whilst we were living in Spain.  Little Ubee had been dumped and left to fend for herself in the middle of nowhere without food or water. Bobby (pictured below) was unwanted because when his previous owners acquired him as a pup, they thought he was going to be a pedigree but in fact he turned out to be a common mongrel, so they decided he wasn’t worth keeping. As well as lots of general information about dogs and cats you will also find information on particular dogs and cats diseases. Diseases that can occur anywhere but particularly when people move to different countries and are unaware of the threats that face their pets.

If you take your dog abroad, or if indeed you acquire a dog unexpectedly when you arrive in your new country, like we did then I hope this information helps you spot the symptoms of dog’s illnesses and thus preventing your best friend from becoming ill.

Perhaps you have no experience of dog ownership and wouldn’t recognize the tell tale signs that say all is not well. It’s  then advisable to consult a local vet as soon as possible because they will ensure treatment is correctly administered and that your dog is immunized and protected. Most of the dogs diseases and other threats described on this site are common in many countries and the information is intended to give an insight into the symptoms of possible  illness and disease. Some of the information has been gained from my own experiences as a dog owner and some has been sourced from various public domain animal health and veterinarian encyclopaedias and discussions with animal welfare organizations.

If in doubt about anything concerning your pets health, consult with a vet.
